 * Dover-Boulogne with LD lines - £40 for car and three passengers advance booking midweek (leaves about 420 miles through lovely Norman countryside and past interesting towns)

* Take your own car from £190 return for the car and two passengers on the Condor Fast Ferry from Poole to St Malo (journey time only 4 hours 30 minutes)

 *  Take the Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo midweek from £288 for a car, two passengers and a cabin on the night crossing.

* Flights to Rennes (about 2 hrs easy drive) with Flybe from Belfast, Birmingham, Dublin, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastl & Southampton
