WHAT'S ON LOCALLY

You will find a comprehensive list of local events and activities throughout the year if you visit www.secta.org.uk and click on the What's On Guide.

FLY CASTING TUITION

Peter is a Licensed Game Angling Instructor and can offer tuition at any of the following venues.  Coaching will be individually tailored to your ability, whether you're a novice or wishing to improve your technique.  It can be for an hour, half a day or longer and is available to anyone, whether or not you are staying here.  May we suggest gift vouchers for fly-casting tuition as an ideal gift for birthdays, Christmas or that special occasion.  Just phone Peter on 01752 851358 to discuss your requirements.

FISHING

BAKE LAKES         Our nearest venue, just half a mile away, open all year round from dawn to dusk for trout and coarse fishing.  The re-contoured trout lake has matured nicely and fishing here is always a pleasure.

SIBLYBACK LAKE Rainbow trout season runs from 31st March to 31st October.  In Peter's opinion, this is the jewel of Bodmin Moor.

COLLIFORD          Brown trout season - 15th March to 12th October

ROADFORD           Brown trout season - 31st March to 12th October

BURRATOR           Brown and rainbow trout season - 1st March to 31st October

You can visit www.swlakestrust.org.uk for more information or ring Peter.

LISKEARD & DISTRICT ANGLING CLUB have 23 miles of river.  Visitor tickets are available up to 30th November at a cost of £20 a day or £55 per week.

The season dates on our local rivers are:-

River Lynher  -  Salmon  -  1st March to 14th October

Sea trout  - 3rd March to 30th September

River Fowey  -  Salmon  -  1st April to 15th December

Sea trout - 1st April to 30th September

River Camel  -  Salmon  -  1st May to 15th December

Sea trout  -  1st May to 30th September

These spate rivers enjoy a peal run from June, along with grilse.  The main salmon run is from October.  In 2006 excellent sport was to be found during the last six weeks of the season.  Sadly no 20 pounders were caught last year but the beats on the Fowey yielded some fine fish up to a sealiced 16lb salmon.  The Environment Agency returns for 2005 showed declared catches for the combined rivers of 650 salmon and 2400 sea trout.

ANGLING 2000  -  This scheme which operates in Cornwall and Devon offers some superb, inexpensive fishing on numerous types of water including truly wild brown trout waters on the moors.  Visit www.angling2000.org.uk or www.wrt.org.uk for more information.
